"When I found Boston Area Gleaners, it fit like a glove—a gardening glove. Volunteering gives me a way to put my ideals to real work: to fight for everyone's right to eat healthy, nourishing food"
JANET BUCHWALD
VOLUNTEER
Volunteers make gleaning and food recovery possible. Your dedication, in the field and on the packing line, got crops harvested, sorted, and boxed for community food programs across the state. Hundreds of hands made light work, and together we maintained a supply chain from farms to families.

TRAINING & EDUCATION
APPRENTICESHIP
Our Apprenticeship program is designed to provide diverse practical and educational experience around the work of food recovery and distribution.
In the 2020 season, seven apprentices joined the team to glean fields, collaborate with partner farms and agencies, and delve deeper into the work of building a better regional food system.
While the gleaner community could not gather much in person, volunteers joined together in the spirit of sharing resources to hold free virtual cooking workshops through the offseason, lending their expertise to teach how to make great dishes out of gleaned veggies!
