Boston Food Hub, a program of Boston Area Gleaners, connects local farmers in need of markets with buyers that value local food and nutrition.
The Food Hub purchases food from farm partners in our region, and leverages the Gleaners’ efficient food distribution infrastructure to sell their crops wholesale to local businesses, schools, non-profits, and other organizations.
Farm viability, sustainability, and food access are important parts of Boston Area Gleaners' mission. Lack of fair access to wholesale markets is often the leading cause of on-farm food waste, and a key reason why farmers may struggle financially. Boston Food Hub allows the Gleaners to collaborate with buyers and farmers to systemically address food waste, give farmers a fair price for their crops, and expand the reach of local food.
