Spring Gleaning at the Food Project - Helping Farmers

6/23/2012

Picture
Each spring, we try to help out farms that donate their surplus crops for gleaning.  Helping them at the beginning with tasks as simple as weeding go a long way. These 'chores' help to  increase their  chances for better yields throughout the season, which will ultimately help produce more food to go around for everyone. This year, we gathered volunteers to help farmers at the Food Project in Lincoln.

Thank you to everyone who came out to help us and the farmers! We had a beautiful morning and we made a huge impact on the preparation work needed for the season.

We are so thankful for our cheerful, vibrant volunteers who see the value of helping farmers even before we get to glean.

Stay tuned for more farm chore opportunities in the coming weeks.

The gleaning season has already begun and will continue to trickle in through the early summer.
