Red Beets and Rutabaga!

12/8/2012

51,672 lbs.as of 12/8/12

We've been pulling up lots of roots over the last week! We made a trip to Brookwood Farm in Milton to harvest beautiful red beets and rutabaga. If this mild December weather holds up, we will be making another down there in a couple weeks. Tomorrow we will make our third trip of the week to Waltham Fields Community Farm to harvest carrots. So far we have harvested 1,700 lbs of carrots from there, and are hoping to harvest at least another 300 lbs tomorrow. Thanks to all the volunteers that have braved gleaning in cold temperatures, and thanks to all the farmers that are able to keep us in their minds as they wind down for the season!
