A Trip to Dick's Market Garden, Lunenburg

9/28/2012

23,369 lbs. or 578 bushels as of 9/28/12

We had a great Wednesday at Dick's Market Garden in Lunenburg, where we harvested 1,242 lbs of turnips, greens, peppers and carrots with 8 wonderful volunteers!

We brought all of the produce to Food For Free later in the day. We were accompanied by a crew from the PBS show "America's Heartland," who were  interviewing and filming us as we gleaned! The piece will air in a couple of months.

On Thursday we gleaned 560 lbs of apples at Nicewicz farm in Bolton. We delivered some apples to Medford Community Cupboard, and will distribute the rest on Saturday. As always, thank you to the farmers and volunteers!
